Fitness After 30 Requires AGGRESSIVE Simplicity
We're talking about "Aggressive Simplicity" today and why it's exactly what you need to achieve your health and fitness goals if you're over 30.Approximate read time: 2 minutes 42 seconds

Why Simplicity?
If you scroll through social media, you'll see some pretty bold claims."Fruit is the source of your belly fat.""Do this ONE exercise to get rid of cellulite for good.""Eat raw testicles if you want to boost your testosterone.""Plant toxins are the source of disease, so you should only eat meat, fruit, and honey."Every day there's a new supplement or a new diet that claims to solve every problem you have and a bunch you didn't know you had but are probably ruining your life. There's always something new you can do or something you can buy to make you healthier. Have you considered what things ACTUALLY make the biggest difference in your health? It's not some new, never before heard of compound or supplement. It's not some workout supposedly done by Tibetan monks that happens to look good on camera. It's simple things.
Walking a minimum of 21 minutes per day
Daily exercise (walking is a good start but you need more physical activity than that)
Consistent quality sleep (shoot for ~8 hours, get at least 7)
Wholesome eating (0.5-0.7g/pound of bodyweight+quality produce)
Stay hydrated
Get plenty of sunlight
Spend time with the people you love (yes this matters for your physical health)
Everything else is a bonus. The caveat? If you don't have these things in place, none of those other "extra things" can replace them.No supplement, meditative practice, or esoteric lifestyle tweak can make up for a weak foundation.

What is Aggressive Simplicity?
Ok, that's simplicity, but why "Aggressive Simplicity?"
Remember the social media examples I listed above? Those people aren't passively pursuing customers. They're INCREDIBLE marketers who know exactly how to push the buttons of the millions of people who consume their content daily. They know how to make you feel inferior. They know how to make you feel like you're missing out. They likely understand some of your insecurities better than you do. AND...They have the algorithms of billion-dollar companies at their disposal, which have been collecting data on you for years. The deck is stacked in their favor. If you want to maintain any semblance of simplicity in your life, it will not happen passively; it will require a massive amount of intention and aggressive "pruning" of all the extra complexity society plants in your life when you have your back turned.

How do YOU do it?
If you're expecting me to say, stop using social media and don't listen to the news, you're wrong. Although drastically cutting back on both of those things (limiting them to no more than 1 hour/day total) will dramatically improve your life. No, instead would invite you to ask yourself whenever you add something to your health and longevity regimen/practices why you're making the addition. If it claims to remove or reduce the need to do any of the things items in the simple things bulleted list above, you can be 100% certain you should avoid that product or practice like the plague. On the other hand, if it supports that list and will make it easier to sustain the simple basics over a lifetime, you've probably found a worthy addition. That's all for today. See you out there.
