Those all sound like great things, right?Right!Too bad this substance is illegal, though, huh?Wrong! It's totally legal! That list up there of all those incredible benefits is a list of what you get when you SLEEP.

The Most Powerful Performance Enhancing Drug in the World

If you looked at that list and assumed it was a list of some wonder drug, you wouldn't be far off. Think about it.If you claimed you had a drug that could do all of these things, every single athletic organization in the world would ban it within 24 hours. Why?It would get the users an "unfair advantage."Yet we sit here looking for shortcuts to improve our performance and lengthen our lives, and we already have access to literally THE BEST THING for our bodies and brains.

How Can You Use Your Sleep to Improve Your Health

Rule number 1: Sleep is a top priority. It comes before entertainment and doesn't get pushed aside to make room for more work. Budget 7-9 hours every single day for sleep and stick to your guns.

Rule number 2: Set yourself up for success. Your sleeping space is sacred; treat it as such. You sleep there, and if you're playing your cards right, you might get to have sex there as well. Keep it dark, quiet, and cool. No screens, no distractions, just sleep. Taking this even further, stop eating ~90 minutes before bed and drinking ~2 hours before bed. This will put your body in the best state possible to release maximal levels of growth hormone, which is necessary for efficient recovery, and stopping drinking keeps you from waking up to pee.Rule number 3: Earn your sleep. Mental work IS taxing, but you're not just a mental animal. By the same token physical work is also taxing, but you're not just a pouch of muscle and bones; you need mental stimulation as well. Create opportunities to exhaust both your physical and mental faculties every single day. You'll be surprised how much easier it is to get a good night's sleep when you earn it.

Nothing good comes from being sleep-deprived.Regularly being fully rested, on the other hand, opens doors of opportunity you might not know even existed.

That's all for today!
